2024/2025 Transfer Information

Interdistrict Transfers
Interdistrict Transfer requests are for students transferring between DISTRICTS (attending a different school district than your designated home district). Any student attending Buckeye Union School District on a currently approved Interdistrict Transfer Agreement will automatically be registered for the next school year, unless 1) the student has a change in school (including elementary to middle school) or 2) the school site is notified of the student’s withdrawal. New Interdistrict Transfer request forms will be accepted between February 5, 2024, and March 31, 2024, for consideration for the 2024/2025 school year. New Interdistrict Transfer requests will not be reviewed until May 13, 2024.
Situation:
- I live within El Dorado County boundaries (not within Buckeye USD boundaries), but want to transfer my student to Buckeye USD.
- Complete an Interdistrict Transfer Application Form EDC and submit it to your HOME DISTRICT OFFICE of residency for release. Upon release, your form will be sent to Buckeye USD. Then, please allow at least 5 business days before requesting the status of the transfer (if past the review date stated above).
- IF YOU ARE DENIED RELEASE BY YOUR HOME DISTRICT, PLEASE REACH OUT TO KELLEE SELLWOOD FOR ASSISTANCE ksellwood@buckeyeusd.org
- I live outside of El Dorado County boundaries, but want to transfer my student to Buckeye USD.
- Complete an Interdistrict Transfer Form from your HOME SCHOOL DISTRICT (inquire with your home school district for access to their form) and submit it to your HOME DISTRICT OFFICE for release. Upon release, your form will be sent to Buckeye USD. Then, please allow at least 5 business days before requesting the status of the transfer (if past the review date stated above).

- I live within Buckeye USD boundaries, but want to transfer my student to a school district other than Buckeye USD.
- Complete an Interdistrict Transfer Application Form EDC and send the form to Buckeye Union School District, attn: Kellee Sellwood ksellwood@buckeyeusd.org or fax (916) 934-0920. Upon release, your form will be sent to the requesting district. Once complete, you may follow up with the requesting district for further questions. Buckeye Union Elementary School District is for grades TK through 8th grade. If you need a transfer (in or out) for high school, please contact the HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT.
Please note:
- Any student attending in El Dorado County on a currently approved Interdistrict Transfer Agreement will automatically be registered for the following school year at the same school (policy effective 2020/2021), unless the:
- Student has a change in school (including elementary to middle school). However, Interdistricts are not required for Charter Schools.
- Student has moved to a different releasing District. A new release will need to be obtained from the new school District.
- School site is notified of the student’s withdrawal.
- Annual Verification of Employment - After the initial approval of the Application for Interdistrict Attendance and submission of an employer letter to your resident district, parents/guardians are not required to submit an Interdistrict Transfer Agreement annually. Parents/guardians are only required to provide the Annual Verification of Employment form and proof of current employment/employer letter to the district in which they desire their child(ren) to attend. Please submit by MARCH 31.
- Rolling Hills Middle School is not accepting Interdistrict Transfers currently due to the school being impacted.
- For those that live outside the Buckeye Union boundaries and are interested in enrolling at one of our charter schools (Valley View Charter Montessori School or Buckeye Union Mandarin Immersion Charter School) do not apply for an Interdistrict transfer. Please inquire with the school for registration and other related information.
- In order to remain on an interdistrict transfer agreement, your student(s) must maintain satisfactory grades, satisfactory citizenship, and regular attendance for the school year.
- Additionally, school transportation is the responsibility of the parents
- Buckeye Union School District is TK-8th grade. If you are interested in a transfer for 9th-12th grade, please contact the El Dorado Union High School District.
- Parent Rights (including the appeal process) are listed on page 3 of the transfer application. A pupil may attend a school in a district other than the pupil’s district of residence pursuant to an interdistrict agreement between the district of residence and district of desired attendance. Each school district has adopted policies regarding interdistrict attendance. Parents/guardians wishing to enroll their pupil at a school district outside of their resident school district may obtain an application for interdistrict attendance transfer from the District/COE. Interdistrict transfer agreements must be approved by both the pupil’s school district of residence and the school district to which the pupil seeks to transfer. The agreement may include terms or conditions. It is within the authority of either the school district of residence or the receiving school district to revoke an interdistrict transfer/reciprocal agreement at any time for any reason the school district governing board or school district superintendent deems appropriate. If a request for an interdistrict transfer agreement is denied, the pupil’s parents/guardians may file an appeal to the county office of education in the pupil’s school district of residence within 30 days of receipt of the official notice of denial of the transfer.

Intradistrict Transfers
Intradistrict Transfer requests are for students transferring between BUCKEYE UNION SCHOOLS (attending a different Buckeye Union school than your designated Buckeye Union homeschool). Forms will be accepted between January 16, 2024, and February 28, 2024, for consideration for the 2024/2025 school year. If your student is already attending a school on an Intradistrict Transfer, a move from the student’s assigned school to another school within our district, and they wish to remain at that school, they do not need to renew their Intradistrict agreement, and we will assume the student will be returning to the same school for the next school year.
Situation:
- I live within Buckeye USD boundaries, but want to transfer my student to a different Buckeye USD school than designated by my residence. Complete an Intradistrict Transfer Form and submit to your designated home school of residence or the child's current BUSD school.
Please note:
- If your student is already attending a school on an Intradistrict Transfer (a move from the student’s assigned school to another school within our district) and they wish to remain at that school, they do not need to renew their Intradistrict agreement. We will assume the student will be returning to the same school for the following school year.
- Rolling Hills Middle School is not accepting Intradistrict Transfers currently due to the school being impacted.
