Greetings! My name is Jonathan Lee and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve you as the principal of William Brooks Elementary. I have always been a Buckeye, being born in Ohio. I have lived in California since my career in education began in 1986. I have taught grades 3 - 8 in public, private and charter schools. I have worked as and administrator in one capacity or another over the past several years, most recently an Assistant Principal in the San Jose Unified School District.
I earned my BA from the University of Cincinnati, and my MA from the University of San Francisco. My wife and I have 2 AMAZING sons who are students at Pepperdine and Seattle Pacific Universities respectively.
I try to live and lead as simply as possible. Everything I do as an educator is filtered through the lens of “what’s best for kids”. When all the adults are working to do what’s best for kids, schools function at their best. The great thing about Brooks is that the adults already work within this paradigm. Our teachers, staff members and PTA all work diligently to provide our students with a high quality, multifaceted educational experience.
A phrase I have heard frequently since I accepted this appointment in April is “ looking forward”. As in, I am looking forward to the chance to learn about the fun activities the PTA does here. I am looking forward to learning how the teachers do such a great job here. I am looking forward to meeting all these wonderful students. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone. I am looking forward to running the trails in Folsom. I am looking forward to moving out of the Bay Area.
While I am truly looking forward to meeting and getting to know all the members of the Brooks Community over the next few months, I have thought a lot about the phrase, Looking Forward. It’s both a description and an action. I want to help all of us to look forward, see and embrace the future. Look beyond the many mistakes that we make in our efforts to be successful. Look toward the many successes we will have as we learn from those mistakes. I want us to be a community of people who look forward together, toward all the great successes we will experience over the 2018 -2019 school year.
Looking Forward Together!
