Principal's Welcome
-
Welcome to the home of the Bulldogs!
At Blue Oak, we feel it is our responsibility to help students develop not only academically but socially, emotionally, and behaviorally as well. When a student struggles in any one of these areas, it often causes them to struggle in the other areas as well. One way we work to support our Bulldogs is through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). The goal of PBIS is to prevent behavior struggles before they occur by clearly teaching and reviewing area expectations and recognizing students for positive behavior choices they make with Paw Promise tickets. All staff members are always looking for and giving Paw Promises to students who are being respectful, responsible, safe, and problem solvers in all areas of campus. Students enjoy the opportunity to purchase rewards with the Paw Promises they earn every two weeks. Students enjoy purchasing physical prizes like dog tag necklaces and pencils to experiences like front of the lunch line passes for a week or extra recess time for their class. We have a PBIS team who is dedicated to continuously reviewing behavior data and supporting students and staff throughout the year.
Relationships are the foundation for students to have a positive school experience. With this belief, I strive to support the whole Blue Oak community in building strong, positive relationships. One way for families to help build these relationships is to participate in school activities put on by our Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Beyond our awesome PTA events like the Ice Cream Social, Fall Festival, and Family Dance, PTA sponsors enrichment programs that all of our Bulldogs participate in which include Meet the Masters (art education), STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), and educational assemblies. Besides joining the PTA, I encourage you to seek volunteer opportunities on site and participate in various committees. We love seeing our parents supporting students on campus!
Families play a large part in the success of our students. Some ways for families to help their children succeed at school are to read communication from teachers and the site, ensure your child attends school consistently and arrives on time, and encourage them to always try their best. I hope we can work as a team to support our Bulldogs. If I can ever be of assistance, please feel free to call or email me.
Gooooo Bulldogs!
