The role of the Business Department is to support the BUSD mission and vision for student success by efficiently providing quality administrative services and effectively aligning our limited resources to support the goals of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The Business Department strives to provide an excellent level of service to students, staff, parents, and community members in the following areas:

Financial Accounting and Budget:

  • Developing and monitoring the District and school site budgets in alignment with the LCAP and each site's Single Plan for Student Achievement
  • Managing the district's fiscal resources, account records, and cash flow
  • Interfacing with other agencies and organizatoins to ensure maximized funding and compliance with program requirements
  • Student attendance accounting
  • Coordinating audits, completing mandated reporting to various government agencies, providing "best practices" guidance to ensure compliance

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Collecting and depositing District revenue
  • Issuing payments to vendors for goods and services

Purchasing:

  • Efficient procurement of supplies, equipment and instructional materials to support school operations

Payroll and Employee Benefits:

  • Providing accurate, timely, and compliant payroll and benefit services to all District employees

Facilities, Maintenance and Operations:

  • Providing facilities and related maintenance services to ensure a quality learning environment for students
  • Coordinating sustainability measures in areas of energy efficiency and water conservation
  • Coordinating community use of facilities

Transportation:

  • Providing safe, reliable and efficient Home to School and Special Needs transportation services for students
  • Providing field trip transportation services to local and regional schools and community organizations

Nutrition Services:

  • Providing healthy school lunches and nutritional education to help support student's health, well-being and the abiltity to learn

Insurance and Risk Management:

  • Monitoring property and liability insurance coverage, incidents and best practices
  • Coordinating Employee insurance
  • Coordinating Student insurance
