  • ** NOTICE OF VACANCY FOR SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE **

Governing Board member Winston Pingrey has resigned from his seat on the Buckeye Union School District Governing Board, effective June 16, 2022, creating a Board vacancy. At their Regular Board Meeting on May 18, 2022, the Buckeye Union School District Governing Board took action to fill this vacancy by making a provisional appointment rather than holding a costly special election. The Board also approved the vacancy timeline and process. The process included the establishment of a paper screening committee that will screen applicants for eligibility and recommend candidates to be interviewed by the Board. Per the California Education Code, the Board now has 60 days from the effective date of the resignation (June 16, 2022) to make the Provisional Appointment. The appointee will hold office until the next Governing Board Member election, which occurs at the Statewide General Election in November 2022. (Education Code Section 5091 [E])

Applications are now being accepted from any qualified person interested in filling this vacancy. All eligible residents are welcome to apply. According to California Education Code 35107(a): Any person, regardless of sex, who is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district, a registered voter, and who is not disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office, is eligible to be elected or appointed a member of a governing board of a school district without further qualifications.

Applications are available from the Buckeye Union School District office, 5049 Robert J. Mathews Parkway, El Dorado Hills, California. Completed applications must be returned to the Buckeye Union School District office at the address listed above no later than 4 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2022. No late applications will be accepted. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Applicants selected for the interview will be notified via a telephone call.   At a Special Meeting of the Board on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 2 p.m., the Board will interview candidates, appoint the provisional Board Member, and administer the Oath of Office.
