BUSD Independent Study Program
An Independent Study program is being offered as an educational option for our students. This educational alternative is being called the Buckeye Academy for Personalized Learning or "The Academy" for short.
"The Academy" provides a K – 8th grade home school option for parents and their children in our district. Parents, students, and their supervising teacher will design a personalized course of instruction for each student. The parent and student take on the responsibility for the day-to-day instruction and learning. Then, at weekly meetings with the supervising teacher, progress is assessed and new assignments are prescribed.
The Academy will follow the same calendar and maintain the same high academic standards and expectations held for all students in the Buckeye Union School District. Students enrolled in The Academy will receive the same core curriculum being used in the district and will have the opportunity to participate in after school sports, extracurricular activities, the district band program and the use of school libraries and computer labs on a scheduled basis.
