October 2008
Dear Camerado Parents
It’s that time of the year for the Parents Club to hold its annual fundraiser. Just as in years past, we will be selling frozen cookie dough and gifts online. It is great to have the convenience of cookie dough at your fingertips with the holidays soon approaching. The online shopping also makes it easier for family and friends to participate in supporting the school.
We thank you for your generous donations at the start of the school year. We received over $1,100 from our Parents Club survey. You can be assured that we have already put that to good use. We have given the Counseling Department $500 for the Red Ribbon Week (Say No to Drugs) activities which will be October 20-24th. We have also given $1500 to the Computer Lab and Yearbook Staff to help replace the cameras and video equipment that were stolen over the summer during the campus upgrade. There are additional needs that we know are yet to be requested. The glassware (beakers, graduated cylinders, test tubes, etc.) in the Science Department was broken during the move and will need to be replaced. Last year we gave $4,400 to the school to purchase additional books for the classrooms. There are still classrooms that need full sets. These are just some of the requests that we will receive this year.
Our fundraiser will be from October 16th through October 30th. Each student will receive a packet of information during his or her study period. This packet will contain an order form, collection envelope, brochure of our 15 delicious cookies, and the Simply the Best prize poster. Please be sure and check the back of the poster for important information on how to register for the online sales. All items purchased under your child’s ID number will be credited towards your child’s sales.
Our ultimate goal is for each student to sell 5 items. Should we make that happen, our school will earn $20,000. A Free Mile Pass, and a choice of a phone excuse machine, snake egg magnets, or a light-up jelly ring, will be given when 5 items are sold. Sell 10 items and come to a party held during study period, earn a ticket for the I-Pod Nano raffle, have a chance to be in the Money Machine, and choose an item from the Simply the Best prize poster. We will have a turn-in on Wednesday October 22nd before school. We will have additional order forms available at that time should you need them. They will also be available in the office.
Please take the time to visit the Great American Opportunities website at www.gafundraising.com. In the lower right hand corner, click on Online Portal. Then click on Register. This will give you an ID number that will track your child’s online sales even if their name is misspelled. Frozen Cookie Dough is not available online. It is only sold directly through the school. Our delivery date will be the first week of December. Thank you for your support!!
