The following guidelines are intended to define appropriate student attire and personal grooming for students at school. We are hoping that this information will assist parents and students when they shop for school attire. The appropriateness of the clothing will be determined by the normal wear of the clothes, that is to say, they
will be judged not just by the way the clothes fit just when the student is standing still, but by the way they fit as the student participates in the regular activities of the school day. The dress code also applies to activities after school such as dances, sports, etc.
It is our intention to provide a learning environment that is comfortable for all members of our campus. We make every effort to be consistent in the application of these policies.
UNACCEPTABLE attire at school includes the following:
- See-through blouses, shirts, or tops; bare midriffs (if your stomach can be seen, you have a bare midriff); off-the-shoulder tops; tank tops that do not fit snugly on the sides and top. Tops must meet whatever is being worn on the bottom, covering the entire torso when arms are raised.
- Shirts/tank tops that have shoulder straps less than 1” wide.
- Any shirt or top that reveals cleavage.
- Shorts or skirts shorter than fingertip length.
- Pants or shorts with a crotch that sags lower than mid-thigh. Pants are to be worn at the waist.
- Pants or shorts with rips or tears higher than mid-palm.
- Clothing with inappropriate lettering, printing, patches, artwork or messages. These include references to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, sex, death, satanic themes, known gang themes (as defined by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s office), acts or weapons of violence, or illegal activity, silhouettes of women or images of inappropriately dressed men or women, message that contain innuendo or a connotation that is sexual, vulgar, hateful or otherwise inappropriate for school.
- Scarves, bandanas, headbands or other head-wear on the head that does not provide protection from the sun. **Headbands may be worn if they serve the purpose of holding hair back from the face.
- Swim/beachwear.
- Chains of any kind and clothing or jewelry with protrusions that could be considered dangerous.
- Shoes without a strap or backing around the heel. The strap must be part of the original shoe; it cannot be added on.
